THIS PAST SUNDAY , April 26th at 4 .PM the voices of the Harlem Community were heard on Harlem Network News Facebook Live.  Dr. Maulana Karenga the Founder of Kwanzaa, the first African American holiday spoke on where people of Color are  amidst the devastation of the Corona Virus Pandemic.   Immediately following HNN host Terri Wisdom  introduced noted Harlem Public officials who  participated in a Town Meeting discussing where Harlem is now amidst the Corona Virus Pandemic and what plans and programs
are strategically being put in place to save and assist the community. The Public Officials that  participated in the Town Meeting:  Harlem Congressmen Adriano Espaillat, Borough President of Manhattan the Honorable Gale Brewer, Assembly Member Inez Dickens, Assembly Member Al Taylor, and State Senator Brian Benjamin.  Guest appearances from Councilmen.  Bill Perkins and District Leader Cordell Cleare did not appear.   This  vital Town Meeting allowed the residents of Harlem to hear from local Public Officials, write in questions and receive credible answers. Over 200 questions were filed. many questions challenged the absence of stimulus funding to Harlem residents, Columbia University/Presbyterian Hospital funding and the lack of communication to residents from local hospitals on testing.
Ines Dickens announced  that she was providing groceries for the those who needed in her feed Harlem program and encouraged  constituents to call her office with COVID-19 needs. Congressman Espaliad alerted all listeners  that they needed to file there applications immediately for the PPP Pay Check Protection program by April 27 at 10 AM.

The moderator Terri Wisdom asked officials to address those stricken by Covid 19, that died a horrible death with no loved ones near,  dumped in Refrigerated containers in Black Plastic Bags with no proper Funeral, and now buried in mass graves with no marker of memorial and no final viewing by family. The officals promised to address this critical issue in their respective houses of government. Ines Dickens noted that families of color suffered prior to Covid 19 from the loss of work, substandard housing, and food deprivation  and now in the wake of the Corona Virus Pandemic have no work or go to  work as medical providers and essential workers in unfathomable, life threatening conditions.   America must step up and pay reparations for the funerals, medical bills and a Memorial for the  “Harlem Angels Gone to Soon” . Assembly Woman asked in a heated exchange on behalf of her constituents  ” Where is the money”

Harlem Network News is a new media platform created to provide news and information relevant to the residents of Harlem and Urban Communities  in the wake of the Corona Virus Pandemic.

The government, the media, and network cable  news have all failed once again in the Tale of Two Cities to address the poor, under served and people of color as well as to include qualified medical professionals of color as experts from the community.  The pain and suffering of the White businesses and residents of the city and the nation overwhelms the heart of America and the world.  The stories of the poor, under served people of color their dedicated medical and community care givers and organizers are hidden never making  it to the screen.
